Amphora Connect Supports Critical ColBAC Infrastructure Relocation at Colchester Town Hall
Amphora Connect has successfully helped Colchester Business Against Crime (ColBAC) relocate vital communications infrastructure at Colchester Town Hall, ensuring uninterrupted service ahead of planned restoration works.
With roofing and restoration projects due to begin at the historic Town Hall, ColBAC required an urgent solution to move key radio infrastructure from its existing location. Responding at short notice, Amphora Connect’s engineering team relocated the power, network and radio equipment to the Town Hall’s bell tower, enabling ColBAC to maintain its essential communications systems without disruption.
The move forms part of Amphora Connect’s ongoing support for public safety infrastructure across north-east Essex.
Behind the scenes, Amphora Connect provides and manages the network infrastructure that underpins both the ColBAC radio network and public CCTV systems serving Colchester and Clacton. Spanning from the Turnstone Development in north Colchester to Clacton seafront, the extensive network connects more than 500 CCTV cameras, supporting local authorities, emergency services and community safety partners in preventing and detecting crime.
The successful relocation highlights the importance of resilient digital infrastructure and the role local connectivity providers can play in supporting frontline community safety operations.
This latest project builds on Amphora Connect’s long-standing contribution to the region’s public safety network. In 2020-21, the company led a major programme to fully digitalise Colchester’s CCTV system, replacing ageing analogue technology with a modern, future-proof city-wide digital network capable of supporting expanding surveillance and security requirements.
